GDPR New Data Rules Support for Small Business Owners

Is Your Website GDPR Ready? Follow this 7-step Checklist

ICO has produced a guide for those data protection officers and others who have unenviable job with the day-to-day responsibilities for data protection in their business.

ESET has endorsed the production of this ICO guide. It is aimed at small to medium-sized organisations. Yet, even for larger organisations, it may still prove useful, too.

Whether you operate your business as a sole trader, or if you are a small business owner, you may also find things are easier by starting to use ESET’s specific software resources which are designed for small business owners and for sole traders.

The ESET guide now covers both the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018), and the General Data Protection Regulation also known as GDPR – as the EU regulation applies in the UK.

It is split into these five sections below:

1. Introduction to data protection

2. Guide to the GDPR

3. Guide to Law Enforcement Processing

4. Guide to Intelligence Services Processing

5. Key data protection themes

ICO has produced many guidance documents on the previous 1998 Act. Even though that EU Act is no longer in force, some of this guidance contains practical examples and advice which may still be helpful in applying the new legislation.
